Teaching the next generation safe & respectful relationships
Education Action Group
Engaging Toowoomba’s young people in addressing domestic & family violence (DFV)
Our Education Action Group’s mission is to educate people who are using and people experiencing domestic violence in relationships about safe and respectful relationships.
Research shows children who have experienced domestic violence in their upbringing are at a higher risk of anxiety, depression, and substance abuse problems, and are more likely to repeat abusive behaviour.
By engaging with children and teenagers, our Education Action Group looks to break the cycle of domestic abuse in the Toowoomba Region.

Breaking the cycle of domestic & family violence
When a child is exposed to violence either directly or by witnessing violence inflicted on someone else, this is considered family violence.
Research has found exposure to family violence can affect children in ways such as:
-
Diminished educational attainment
-
Reduced social participation
-
Behavioural difficulties
-
Homelessness
-
Future victimisation and/or violent offending
Toowoomba Together works to break the cycle of domestic and family violence through education, guiding children and young adults towards a brighter future.
